Testing out the new Profiles menu and twice in the last couple of days I've had a bit of a workflow interruption caused by "Restart to Update (Spelling forgot to grab name)"

I was just gently surprised because I'm used to the normal nightly workflow, but I suspect an update happened on when I quit a second profile.

We are planning to delay updates in release to reduce how often users run into this, and the DI team is working on a long-term fix here.

Thanks to Robin I learned that

• The fix for this is in the making with Bug 1891600 - Versioned Installation Directories
• Windows: There is a interim solution for this problem with Bug 1553982
• Linux: Bug 1609882 - Enable the fork server by default in Linux builds.

In summary, this is a known problem, and we are aware of it. We also have an ongoing project to improve the user experience by changing how the updater works. This change will eliminate the need for a specific patch to address this issue. We will leave the issue open for visibility purposes until the project is complete. For now, I am assigning a severity level of 3 to it because the dependent bug 1480452 also has that level and I am adding Bug 1891600 to the dependencies.
